Website launched - we are GO

Finally launched this site.  It feels good to have the majority of the work in place.  From here on it'll just be small updates and new composition postings from time to time.  For instance, I just came across the original liner notes for Mercywheel (1999) so I added a few direct quotes on some of the songs from that album.

Thank you for visiting.  Thank you for listening.

More updates - a blast from the past!

Just added some songs, notes, and images from Rain For A Day - my overachieving band from Calgary back in 1985-1988.  In addition, a full set of song notes and lyrics has now been added to every song on The New Bright Children (2012).

JSR

35th Anniversary updates

Since I'm preparing this site to launch for my 35th year of writing and recording, I'm introducing a lot of new updates including:

  • new album cover images
  • updated studio and band images in the photo gallery
  • revised notes on each song
  • additional songs from the 80's all the way to the present

Vanity project?  Yep.  But it's pretty fun to go back through 35 years of material and (re)discover things I've done.

Regards,

Jason

Remembering Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse)

Ten years ago the man behind Sparklehorse, Mark Linkous, took his own life.

He'll always be one of my favorite artists - a true inspiration - and yet I'm feeling very sorry for the pain he has surely sowed into…

Site improvements

This site has languished for too long, so I've started making improvements.  Better images.  New songs (past and present).  Improved technical notes here and there... It's a process.

Thanks for peeking in on the journey.  Happy listening.

Working on new songs

Due to the recent COVID-19 lockdown I'm starting to experiment with new music again.  Making lemons out of lemonade, I guess.  It's nice to be back in the creative saddle...  I forgot how much I enjoyed writing, recording, arranging, and mixing.

Check out the '2020's - misc' page under Music if you're curious to listen.

New album has been mastered

The New Bright Children was mastered at Puget Sound Studios yesterday.  It was a great experience working with mastering engineer Bruce Brown at his awesome facility.

Look for the album to be released in late April or early May.

Final mixes today

Today I'm going over to Deep Well Studio to finish up the final mixes for my new CD, "The New Bright Children".  I'm excited to be wrapping this project up.

Naturally, my friend (and fellow engineer) TJ and I will celebrating with a variety of fine beers from Belgium.
