From the recording The New Bright Children - 2012

It starts with backwards electric guitar so hey, it's gotta be good right?

I dig the sleepy vibe of this one. And the simple arpeggiation of the electric guitar. And the backwards tambourine. And the long-tail reverbs on the chorus vox. And the bells. The bells are married with the vocals in the final verse, which is a diggable detail for sure.

The weird, but somehow anthemic and soaring chorus reminds me a bit of Radiohead. At least, that's what I hear.

One last thing... I'm happy with the fact that the song's final chord never resolves. Ever.

Lyrics

I travel alone
I travel alone
I travel alone
I travel

At home - we're pretty sleepy at home
And when we roam - we're pretty sleepy on the road

Don't you wanna be?
Don't you wanna be right here?

When you're sure that you'll fail
But you just gotta try
When you wanna break down
And start to cry
If the rule is to quit
Well baby just wait and see...

The exception is me

Candle light in darkened room
Huddled 'gainst the world we soon missed
On shiny rails wet with rain
We're fleeing from the world again, blissed

I travel alone
I travel alone
I travel

At home - we're pretty sleepy at home
And when we roam - we're pretty sleepy on the road

Don't you wanna be?
Don't you wanna be right here?

When you're sure that you'll fail
But you just gotta try
When you wanna break down
And start to cry
If the rule is to quit, well baby just wait and see...
The exception is me

When you're falling apart
And all of your dreams
Start to unravel at the seams
If the rule is to quit
Well baby, just wait and see...

The exception is me
