Jason Rubero: Music

The Radio Girl (2002)

(Jason Rubero)
November 6, 2002
Pure pop. The lyrics and chords came to me in just one hour. I then raced to record a quick demo so I wouldn't forget the basic idea. Maybe one day I'll post that demo (if I get brave...)

My brother, John, sings some of the 10 backing vocals at the end. Also, the guitar solo on this one is unique: half forward + half backward, mixed together - wonderfully weird. I LOVE 'WEIRD'. :-)
She's all around me, she's everywhere
Confounds and astounds me over the air
She's got her short waves running through my head
Her interference tells me I'm not dead

I'm so modulated when she radiates
My wires are crossed, my amp saturates
She's all through the ether, she laces the sky
She don't need a speaker I can hear her for miles

Radio girl (our love is so tragic)
Radio girl (but I'm a fool for her static)
Her tubes glow for miles and miles
And she broadcasts nothing but smiles
And I'm so in love with her

< solo >
Radio girl (our love is so tragic)
Radio girl (but I'm a fool for her static)
She broadcasts all of the time
And she doesn't need a reason or rhyme
I wanna say that she's all mine
But she belongs to everyone...

Just to catch her trasmission makes me shine for days
You say you can't hear her, well you're out of phase
When she's switched on she darkens the sun
Forget the BBC., she's my Radio-1

Radio girl
Radio girl
The whole world's watching
