The Hero and The Heroin (2002)

OK.... OK... It's a *sprawling* epic. Too sprawling.

But it has some great guitar sounds, bizarre ambient effects, huge dynamic range, and a few pretty good lines, like "You hoarded gold in your soul-lift, until it could not rise..."

If you listen carefully you can hear the remnant of Alice's voice saying 'space', on infinite repeat, swimming around through the 'experimental section'. LOL!

Spooky. This one makes me (and others) feel ill-at-ease. But, then again, the song *is* about self-destruction.

The age would've been 27, but that was just too damn easy because of Janis, Jimi, and Jim.
So sad.... they said that you were dead
Years before you shut your eyes
You had a gift for the age
Turned a deaf ear to swoon and sigh

Shooting your star with syringe
They said at the clinic you cringed
And cried

"I know you're out there"
I know you're out there

It must have been so grand to make it big
And do all those things you got to do
But you were old and drawn out at thirty one
And dead at thirty two

Fanatics may honour your crypt
But I think you squandered your gift
And hoarded gold in your soul lift
So it could not rise

"I know you're out there"
I know you're out there
