Jason Rubero: Music

Sunny Day (2001)

(Jason Rubero)
May 1, 2001

Oh man!  Is this thing LOADED with intersting sonic details, or what?  You could hear it 10 times and still be picking out new details - love that!

Probably my favorite middle-8 of all my work.  Still makes me giddy when I hear it.... even after eight years.

Again, the lyrics make me tremble.  Sometimes I'm not even sure they are my words.  It's as though they came from somewhere else - somewhere beyond me.

Two drums parts on this song... one in the right channel, one in the left!  Also, lots of interesting percussion, guitar licks, electric piano, and ambietn noises.

The compressed symbol 'swoosh' going into the final verse is so..... so.... RIGHT.  It completes me.  :-)

Finally, I LOVE THE ENDING OF THIS SONG.  PERIOD.

Sunny day
It's enough to lift you up
It's enough to knock you out - with love

Sunny day
It's enough to pull you through
Quite enough to pull you out - of your wonderous shell

Sunny day
It can lift you up, though you aren't strong
Can harmonize, and help you sing your song -
Your song of songs

My head is so light, I don't think I can keep it down
(I could canter but this breeze keeps me blowing around)
I could slide beneath the diamonds of water and drown
(But if I died, I might miss the luscious, bubbling sounds)
Of a sunny day....

Sunny day
It could helium my blues
Lift me high above these sullen shoes
If I could be with anyone, it's you I'd choose
